Vertical viewing angle a deal breaker. Inferior to LN-T2653H.
The verticle viewing angle is miserable -- a deal breaker! If you intend on looking at this TV exactly at eye level then it may work for you. But, deviate ever so slightly vertically and the picture will appear to change (lighten and darken). Not good if you watch the TV on the sofa or in a bed and then stand up and expect the image to look the same. I own Samsung's prior model, the 26" Samsung LN-T2653H and it's GREAT: the image quality appears the SAME when viewed from any viewing angle. The sound on the LN26A450 is adequate but, without question, the LN-T2653H's audio is much cleaner and more robust. Unfortunately, the LN-T2653H is much more difficult to find now so I bought the LN26A450 for my girlfriend, but it's going back. It's really a shame that Samsung released such an inferior product as an "update." BTW, I also have a 32" Samsung TV (LN-T3253H) and the TV died within a year (it's being repaired tomorrow). I also had a 24" Samsung computer monitor fail this year (SyncMaster 244T). Maybe I've just been unlucky with a few lame Samsung products. On the other hand, customer service with Samsung has been a stellar experience.

Good bedroom TV, viewing angle issue
This TV has a great picture and crisp sound. I have read complaints about the sound, but the sound is much better than I have ever heard from build in TV speakers. Of course it will not compare to a receiver with surround speakers, but for small TV speakers, the sound is excellent.
This TV also has very good multiple alarm options which make it great in a bedroom for waking you up to your favorite TV station.

Because it is LCD, the brightness drops quickly when the viewing angle is lower than the level of the TV. This can be a drawback in a bedroom where the TV is higher than the bed. The TV will not tilt on the stand, so I had to put the folded up Quick Setup manual under the back of the stand to tilt it forward. I then turned the brightness up to 85 while leaving the lamp on only 5 because the room is generally dark. This gives a good picture from the level of the bed, but the picture is washed out when I stand up.
Note that the TV has only one RF input, so if you have cable without a box, you cannot easily connect a regular antenna.

Be SURE to screw the stand into the base of the TV with the 4 included screws. I assumed it would snap in, and it fell out right on my foot. No kidding. It hurt. The useless "Quick Setup" instructions say nothing about the stand. The best use of the Quick Setup is to put under the TV stand to tilt it.
My TV required the new firmware ROM flash to program channels properly. It is installed easily with a USB thumb drive.

Outstanding Picture
We purchased this Samsung for our bedroom and couldn't be happier. The picture is as good as it gets. We've been watching the Olympics for the past two weeks and we've been amazed by the quality of the video.

We're also very pleased with the size of the screen. We're not into huge TVs that take up an entire room, we found 26 inches to be the perfect size. This is obviously a personal preference, but it works well for us.

We have Verizon FIOS, and unlike our 22 inch Samsung, we've had no problems with the HDMI connector on this set with the connection to our Verizon Set Top Box.

The audio is on par with other 26 inch LCD HD TVs. If you want surround sound, there are plenty of connectors so you can easily attach an inexpensive Samsung Home Theater [or any other brand] to the TV in only a few minutes.

Overall, this TV is fantastic and we're so glad we decided on a Samsung. We bought it from Amazon at a very competitive price.

television
Althought I haven't watched this TV yet, I have other Samsungs TV's and love every one of them and everything about them.

Great TV!
This is an awesome TV for my uses. It's the perfect size for my bedroom now, and for my dorm room in a few weeks. The picture quality is amazing when being used with my 360 or with DVDs. Like most of the other reviewers, the weak speakers are my only minor complaint after a little more than a month of use. For the size, price, and quality, this TV is perfect.

Touchscreen Display Smartphone – A Samsung’s New iPhone Killer

samsunginstinct.jpgLast week Samsung and Sprint introduced the Samsung Instinct at CTIA (the wireless conference in Las Vegas). They truly believe that this innovation would become an iPhone killer. It's a candy-bar shaped and stylish smartphone with a large touchscreen display and no keypad. All the experts at the conference were really impressed with its features, but not all would agree with their challenging statement to kill iPhone with Samsung instinct. Surely it needs time to prove their instincts.

Let’s see its pros and cons from critics:

  • The Instinct is on a 3G data network and has real GPS, iPhone lacks it.
  • It won't have OS X or iTunes.
  • The Instinct can use Sprint’s EV-DO mobile broadband network for zippier download speeds.
  • GPS showed great quality, but the web browser was clunky and sometimes failed to load applications.
  • Still a little rough around the edges.
  • The design front is good, but the Instinct can't quite match Apple's device in style.
  • 3G data support (via Sprint's EVDO network), plenty of customization features, the possibility of third-party support via Java/Brew.
  • Price claimed to be lower than on average iPhones, but Sprint will require those who purchase the device to choose one of its latest unlimited plans (claimed 70$ per month).
