Customers Reviews 2008-08-29 Excellent Wireless Headset I work from home and am on the phone often. I needed to replace a wired headset that no longer worked well and I was tired of being tethered to the desk. I read many reviews here on Amazon before settling on the Calisto Pro.
I have been using it for about a month now and am very pleased. People can hear me clearly and loudly. I can hear them the same. In fact, I often have to turn the volume down so callers are not too loud in my ear.
The earpiece stays in my ear well and is pretty comfortable. It's not soft and you can't fit a Jabra gel on it, unfortunately -- that would make it a bit more comfortable. However, I have worn it for hours and there is no pain or anything like that. I just get tired of having it stuck in my ear.
The reception is clear and I don't notice static except if I get pretty far from the unit. Since the handset is cordless, too, it's easy enough to take it with me and then I don't have any issues at all with Bluetooth getting out of range. I have yet to reach the limits of the cordless handset in my traipsing around my house inside and out. Admittedly, I have a cottage, not a mansion :-)
I'd highly recommend this product. I'm buying one for a friend, in fact. Oh, and as a bonus you can use the earpiece with Skype on your computer or with your cellphone, too. Wish there was a way to charge the earpiece away from the base and then I could take it on the road with me. | 2008-08-28 Good office phone, great headset. The headset is comfortable to wear and works well in my office. One thing I don't like is that if you're wearing the headset, you still have to turn it on each time a call comes in or when dialing out. By default, all calls go to the handset first.
In a world with iPhones and Blackberries, the handset's tiny screen is very basic and can be hard to read. Would prefer a more modern and larger display. Despite the keys on the handset being small, I have had no problems mis-dialing numbers.
Probably my biggest complaint is that although numbers are logged and there's a callback feature, it's worthless because you have to dial a 1 before the number. I plan to dig into the manual to see if there's some way around this but I haven't found it on any of the phone's menu. When adding a number manually to memory, you can add the 1 but not for numbers taken from the caller log.
Still, very satisfied with the phone. No noise and good battery life. | 2008-07-26 No more tangled cords! Ordered the Plantronics because I sometimes work at home, but am still attached to corporate phone system via a VPN. I was using a normal wireless internal house phone and an earphone/microphone that plugs into the wireless phone via the 3/32nds inch plug on the side. When walking around the home office, I would constantly catch the cord on something, pulling the phone off the beltclip or the earplug from my ear.
This Plantronics device eliminates the cord and replace the wireless phone. Instead, it uses BlueTooth from its clip pack (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) to the BlueTooth headset (which also works with any BlueTooth enabled cell phone) - no cords to tangle. Sound quality is excellent, the earpiece is lightweight but still stays on the ear, and the range is greater than just the wireless house phone itself, which it can replace.
An added benefit is that if you attach the base unit to a PC via a USB cable, and that PC is connected to the Internet, you can use this system as an Internet/VoIP phone system.
Battery life is very good - a 6 hour support call reduced it to about 50% (something the house wireless phones couldn't do - had to grab another phone and transfer the call) The base is also the charger, and works well - place the beltpack in the base and it starts charging. Snap the headset into the base, and it starts charging.
Worth the money spent - having purchased about 8 different headsets before this, I have problably spent close to the price just in destroyed headsets! | 2008-07-25 Best phone I have ever owned! The title says it all. The sound quality is amazingly clear and the headpiece fits perfectly. I work from home and this phone has been one of the best additions to my office in a long time. I can wear the headpiece all day without problems. The phone also comes with a fantastic speaker phone on the handset. The menus on the phone are highly intuitive and easy to navigate.
I was able to effortlessly synchronize my Outlook contacts with the included software. I have over 400 Outlook contacts and the phone only holds 200. During the synch process, I was able to select only those entries that I needed (which only came out to 98 contacts!). When I want to add a name, I use the Outlook Phonebook Utility on my laptop and save it (synch) to the phone.
Battery life has not been an issue. I have been able to use it for several days without returning it to the base for a charge.
I had to contact customer service with a question on "Registering the handset to the Base". Everything was working out of the box, however, I wanted to know how to manually register (the manual was not very clear on this). The customer service representative was able to answer my question in minutes. Great customer support.
I only wish Plantronics had a two-line version of this phone. The price tag is on the high end ($249.00); however this phone has been worth every penny. I highly recommend this phone.
| 2008-07-21 A Little Disappointing for the Money I work in sales from my home so I'm on the phone quite a bit. I was using a GE cordless phone with a corded headset for a number of years and that worked well but, was limited. I decided that it was time to take the plunge and get some new technology.
With a price tag over $200 I was expecting a lot more from Plantronics. The sound quality is good but, there is constant crackling and pops in the background, just loud enough to be distracting. I thought this might be my WiFi system but when that is turned off the subtle background noise is still there.
Plantronics could have done a much better job on the display. I've seen better ones on toys. With the ability to store 200 names and phone numbers you should have an easy way of accessing them. In my phone with only about 75 names there's plenty of button presses to find the correct one.
The headset is very light weight comfortable and easy to grab and put on your ear. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for the shortcomings so, I gave it only three stars.
