Poor Reception, Poor Design
I got this radio to listen to a news radio station and a few other AM stations. It received the news radio, crystal clear, on the station's FM HD band but did not receive any other AM stations that were not HD including stations I receive with average/fair clarity on my at least 15 years old, very basic (cheap!) clock radio.

In addition, the design of this radio is pitiful! It's a clock radio - try to work the controls when you are half asleep. The tiny snooze button is lost somewhere in a row of tiny buttons, likewise the sleep button.

I do not recommend this radio at all for anyone.

Just right in the right place
I bought this little radio form my garage/workshop and it is just right. It is not fancy and doesn't look particularly great but it fills the workshop with great sound and doesn't take up too much room. I also don't have to worry about getting a fancy case all dusty.
If you are looking for a good looking machine for your living room, keep looking, but for a garage or workshop it is just right.
Unfortunately the Chinese styling and manufacture include an over large power converter and a power cord that sticks out the back making it difficult to put the radio in a small space.

Decent HD Radio. Would be nice if it was portable!
A while back I bought the Sony HD Tuner model XDR-F1HD put some computer speakers on it and wrote a review that it was pretty good especially for the price. I decided to buy the Radiosophy HD100 for my home office, I am listening to this radio as I am producing this review.

Many of the comments pertaining to this radio are pretty much on the mark. It is very simple to use, the presets are simple to setup, it lacks an HD scan which the Sony has, lacks signal strength meter and has a large AC adapter that consumes energy even if the radio is turned off. It would have been a big plus if the radio has a rechargeable battery built in to save all your programmed presets and the clock when the radio is turned off (a "GREENER" approach). I found the Sony to be a more sensitive as I was able to receive more HD channels. I do like the telescope FM antenna but why did they decide to provide an external AM antenna instead of putting in a high quality built in version. The LCD info display while not as informative as the Sony provides excellent contrast compared to my Sony. Finally the sound quality is acceptable for what I am using it but if you are an audiophile the Sony XDR-F1HD should be your choice allowing you to connect it to your receiver/amplifier or to some great powered speakers.

Radiosophy, from my point of view has a great opportunity to make this a clear winner. They should modify the HD100 to make the first HD portable radio. I really like to have one and been looking for a model that will allow you to carry it wherever you go (vacations, picnics, even from room to room). From first glance, this looks like a mini "boombox". Put a handle on it, place a memory backup battery and run some C or D cells and my dreams are fulfilled.

This Radio Does The Job
I have had this radio for a few days now and it does a terrific job. I live in the country 30 miles outside of Seattle and have been frustrated with standard AM/FM reception. I read the Amazon reviews for this radio and was a little reluctant because it only achieved a 3.3 out of 5 star rating. The price was attractive though so I finally decided to go for it.

What a nice surprise. The radio looks good, and is easy to operate. I was listening to crystal clear HD radio 2 minutes after removing it from the box. I can now listen to a wide selection of Seattle and surrounding stations anytime day or night that were previously fuzzy or out of reach.

As for the sound quality, I don't know why some of the reviews hammered it so hard. I am not a total audiophile but I am also not clueless and I know when the sound quality is plenty good enough - and this radio is plenty good enough.

I do not plan on using it as a clock radio and because I move it around the house I don't usually leave it plugged in all of the time, so I can't comment on other reviewers notes about power supply heating.

If you want an HD radio that doesn't break the bank, is easy to operate, and sounds great playing on the kitchen counter then this one is well worth the try.
