Great sound!! but, poor durability
I received these earphone last December as a gift. Absolutely have loved them. The richness, bass, and sound quality on high quality mp3s blows my mind (also recommend the SRS Sound Box... a $15 download for the premium version significantly enhances laptop audio playback) and the sound blocking was exceptional once you determine which ear fitting works best for your own comfort. These were also great for running. HOWEVER, the plastic casing (2 sides come together) that protects them is CHEAP and poorly glued by the manufacturer! Not one, but both sides (left and right earbud) have now had this issue with the two pieces of plastic casing coming apart. I tried gluing these myself, but after continual wear, the one side has broken apart again and finally the wire ripped. That's less than 8 months, and I had used these pretty regularly. Overall: great product, and will definitely buy again, but wish that Shure would add some finishing touches to improve the cheap plastic casing.

Awesome!
I love, love these earphones! I was recently at a swimming pool with probably 60 people, including about 20 LOUD kids. I turned on my ipod and used these Shure earphones and could only hear my favorite tunes! All the background noise was COMPLETELY quiet.....amaaaaazing! Buy these!

For good quality earphones, look no further
These babies are worth every cent. First of all you can grab these for a relatively low price if you keep you eye open... it seems everyone likes to complain about their "bulk" and "fit."

Prior to buying these, i was strongly against earphones, let alone in-ear canal earphones. I decided to give these a try because I read a lot of reviews praising their sound quality, and I found them relatively inexpensive (especially when you consider Shure's other earphone products). So my ears were definitely NOT used to having things jabbed into them, and it took a while until it was natural. The main problem that I had was that it took time to figure out which of the included sleeves were right for my ear. You really do need to give them all a try. I know people really like the foam ones; I however preferred the black rubber. The foam ones irritated my skin, and were just uncomfortable (and gross) after just a few sessions.

A note for all of those considering these:
These earphones use these little sticker waxguards in order to prevent ear wax from going into the earphone. While the ones included with the headphone are great while they last, they eventually run out (due to buildup... unless you clean your ears thoroughly before/after/during you use them), and must be replaced. They tend to cost quite a bit, which was a MAJOR annoyance to me, especially considering that the replacements did not stick as well as the original ones.

Overall, these earphones are very sturdy, and if you are a budding audiophile, a good buy. They provide excellent sound quality (listening to jazz recordings, sometimes it feels like you are actually there), and affordable. For those with a bit more cash to burn, they may want to consider the SE110, which are more expensive (but can be found with discounts if you're lucky), but which have a bit of an easier fit on the ear and superb sound quality. Also, it might be a good idea to invest in a better case than the one included. The case is small and difficult to fit the earphones into without risking damaging the cable. Shure makes larger ones originally designed for the higher price models, but which provide similar protection without the hassle.

Good...but...
I just bought both a set of the Etymotic 6i and the Shure E2C-n and here's my experience. The Etymotics have a much more accurate sound range, especially in the highs. They are super clear, accurate, and thus far durable(had them for almost 2 years now. The major problem... the filters inside them that get clogged all the time. Other than that they are superior to the E2c's. The E2c's seem like they have a better cord than the Etymotics, and I do like the over-ear design better than etymotics. Sound-wise... the E2C's do have superior Bass sound, but are very lacking in the mids and highs compared to the Etymotic 6i's. It's almost like with the E2c's you've turned the treble way down on your stereo, and the bass up. The etymotics is like you turned the bass down and maxed the treble and mids, so i guess it's all preference. I find the etymotics much more enjoyable, maybe because i'm not bumpin the hip-hop or rap much. However, even that sounds great on the etymotics so my point is, if you are going to drop this kind of money, go with the etymotics.
Spread Peace and love in your own little circle!

Very good, with some caveats...
I received these the other day and have a solid 2 days at the gym of using them. So far so good. For 60 bucks, they are definitely worth it. But if I had to pay the list of $100, I would have been disappointed. A couple things to note, the wires are really thick. Which is great for durability and the fact that they don't tangle easily, but they are sort of heavy to run with, and are kind of awkward to stow the extra length while working out. Also there isn't a TON of cord. I wear an armband and am average height, but if I kept my ipod in my pocket and was a little taller, I could see having some issues with cord length.

Because of the sound isolation (which is very good), any movement with the cords can be heard through vibrations in your head, which is sort of annoying. However this can be easily fixed by tightening the cord with the sliding do-hickey below your chin bonnet style. (I wear mine under my bottom lip because I find it less annoying than under the chin even if I do look like a moron).

Not that it really matters, but they aren't the sexiest of earbuds either. They are slightly larger than I would prefer, the v-modas are much cooler looking. I also would have liked an option for a white cord for my white ipod. All in all though, the sound is just short of great (some deeper lows would be nice) and any shortcomings are avoidable or superficial. Good set of buds for the price
